Lessons from Sūrah 3 - Sūrat Āl-‘Imrān
Awarding respect and humiliating is only in the control of Allāh. Without His Will, neither will happen.
There is nothing beyond the Power of Allāh, as is evident from the incident of Zakarīyā u when he was blessed with a son in old age.
Never try plotting against Allāh.
Don’t say anything ambiguously intending to deceive the listener; especially when it’s the Word of Allāh[1]
Whoever holds fast to Allāh (by totally relying on Him) will be guided on the right path.[2]
Don’t forget the bounties of Allāh and your humble beginnings.
Be wary of who you befriend
Mashwarah (seeking counsel) is important. Once mashwarah is done, rely on Allāh.
Death is inevitable; everyone shall have to taste death.
Imagine how the Ṣaḥābah رضي الله عنهم must have felt when they heard this āyah from the tongue of the Messenger ﷺ:
فَٱسۡتَجَابَ لَهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ أَنِّى لَآ أُضِيعُ عَمَلَ عَـٰمِلٍ مِّنكُم مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوۡ أُنثَىٰۖ بَعۡضُكُم مِّنۢ بَعۡضٍۖ فَٱلَّذِينَ هَاجَرُواْ وَأُخۡرِجُواْ مِن دِيَـٰرِهِمۡ وَأُوذُواْ فِى سَبِيلِى وَقَـٰتَلُواْ وَقُتِلُواْ لَأُكَفِّرَنَّ عَنۡهُمۡ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمۡ وَلَأُدۡخِلَنَّهُمۡ جَنَّـٰتٍ تَجۡرِى مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُ ثَوَابً۬ا مِّنۡ عِندِ ٱللَّهِۗ وَٱللَّهُ عِندَهُ حُسۡنُ ٱلثَّوَابِ (٣: ١٩٥)
So, their Lord answered their prayer: ‘I do not allow the labour of any worker from among you, male or female, to go to waste. You are similar to one another. So, those who emigrated, and were expelled from their homes, and were tortured in My way, and fought, and were killed, I shall certainly write off their evil deeds, and shall certainly admit them into gardens beneath which rivers flow, as a reward from Allah. It is Allah with Whom lies the beauty of the reward.’ (3:195)
They were promised Jannah as long as they had done the actions mentioned, which they had done!
[1] وَإِنَّ مِنۡهُمۡ لَفَرِيقً۬ا يَلۡوُ ۥنَ أَلۡسِنَتَهُم بِٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ لِتَحۡسَبُوهُ مِنَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ وَمَا هُوَ مِنَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ وَيَقُولُونَ هُوَ مِنۡ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا هُوَ مِنۡ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡكَذِبَ وَهُمۡ يَعۡلَمُونَ (٣: ٧٨(
[2] وَكَيۡفَ تَكۡفُرُونَ وَأَنتُمۡ تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡكُمۡ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱللَّهِ وَفِيكُمۡ رَسُولُهُ ۥۗ وَمَن يَعۡتَصِم بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدۡ هُدِىَ إِلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ۬ مُّسۡتَقِيمٍ۬ (٣: ١٠١)
