بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

The Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ was the final messenger sent by Allāh to humanity, in order to guide the people to His Oneness and obedience.

Born in Makkah (Mecca) in April 570BC on a Monday, Muḥammad ﷺ was a child of noble descent. He was from the clan of Banū Hāshim, from the tribe of Quraysh. They were well respected due to their residence in the proximity of the Ka‘bah, which was held sacred throughout Arabia...

It is very common these days for people to go out for a meal with friends and/or family; order some takeout and gather somewhere to eat, or just go for a dessert. This presents a great opportunity to practice upon a Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ and a very rewarding good deed: feeding people.

In the Qur’ān, when mentioning the qualities of His righteous servants, Allāh says:

وَيُطۡعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ مِسۡكِينً۬ا وَيَتِي...

Abū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه narrates that the Prophet ﷺ sent a cavalry towards Najd, and it brought back with it a man from the Banū Ḥanīfah tribe, known as Thumāmah ibn Uthāl, whom they tied to a pillar from the pillars of the Masjid.

The Prophet ﷺ came to him and asked, “What do you think I’m going to do with you O Thumāmah?”[1]

He replied, “O Muḥammad! I think of goodness: If you kill me, you will have killed a man whose blood...

Imām Muslim رحمه الله narrates on the authority of Abū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ once entered the graveyard (of Baqī‘) and proclaimed, “Peace be upon you O [People of] the residence of the believing people! We shall soon be joining you, Allāh-willing.”

He then stated, “I desire that we have seen our brothers.” The Ṣaḥābah رضي الله عنهم asked, “Are we not your brothers, O Messenger...

Here in the UK, we have been experiencing strong winds over the past few weeks, and I felt the need to write a post based on how the wind has been mentioned in the Qur’ān and the aḥādīth. This was so that I myself and the readers could gain a better understanding of it in light of the Sharī‘ah, and how we should conduct ourselves in situations where the wind becomes stronger, and admittedly scary.

In the glorious Qur’ān, Allāh...

A common question that arises in the minds of many students of Sīrah is that when Jibra’īl first came with revelation to the Prophet ﷺ, and commanded him to read, the Prophet ﷺ replied with: ما أنا بِقارِئ, which literally means, ‘I am not a reader’.

It is common knowledge that the Prophet ﷺ could not read or write, and thus he was an ummī in the terminology of the Qur’ān[1]. However, being unable to read or write does not mean...

Ibn Hishām, a famous scholar of sīrah, narrates from Ḥalīmah As-Sa‘dīyyah رضي الله عنها that she, together with her husband and baby son – whom she was breast-feeding, left with a few women of the Banū Sa‘d tribe in search of children to be suckled. She says:

“It had been a year of severe drought, leaving us without any food and drink. I left riding my whitish female donkey, also taking along our aged she-camel. By Allāh! That...

‘Āṣim ibn Muḥammad narrates from his father that he said:

“I did not hear Ibn ‘Umar رضي الله عنهما mentioning the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ except that his eyes would immediately well with tears.” [1]

[1]  Aṭ-Ṭabaqāt of Ibn Sa‘d

'You disobey the Prophet ﷺ yet you express love for him; indeed this is a strange proclamation,

If your love for him was sincere, you would

have obeyed him. Verily, a lover is obedient to his beloved.'
